The Yellow Spot
The yellow spot, (latin: Macula lutea) is the place of the highest nerve cell density in the human eye. In the center of the retina, with a diameter of approx. 5 mm, is the yellow spot, where most of the photoreceptor cells are to be found, especially the cone cells, providing highest color sensitivity.
The yellow spot is also called as “the point of the clearest vision”.
